Connecting to the Data Source

The Getting Started screen can be used to launch the dialogs for each step in the process. Click the icon under Choose your data sources.

Alternatively, from the Getting Started page, you can use the Administration drop down menu, and select Data Sources.

The Add Data Source panel is presented over the Data Source Configuration panel forcing the addition of the first data source.

HINT: If this is not the first data course, click the green plus sign, plus,in the upper right hand corner.

As mentioned in the Introduction the tutorial will use the sample Northwind database that is provided with NetCharts Performance Dashboard PostgreSQL data source. To configure your data source enter Northwind as the Data Source Name and select PostgreSQL as the Data Source Type.

Complete the configuration by clicking the Add button.

WARNING: The PostgreSQL database supplied should not be used for any other purpose then for use with NetCharts Performance Dashboard.

Once you added your data source you will need to configure specific options. For this tutorial theDatabase Server is localhostDatabase Port is 9832, the Database Name is northwind, the Username is northwinduser and the Password is northwinduser.
 
After entering the configuration information test the connection by clicking the Test button. In the Data Source Status section you will see a Success! message.
 
Before you continue make sure you uncheck the Autogenerate Entities check box. You will be configuring this in the next section.
 

 
Click the Continue button to move to the next step.
