Training Syllabus
This example syllabus outlines the NetCharts Server and NetCharts Designer Training Agenda:
Day 1:
Day 1 consists of two parts:
- Lecture based training covering NetCharts Server and NetCharts Designer for approximately 5 - 6 hours.
- Dashboard Workshop to assist with implementation specific dashboard content for 2- 3 hours.
The discussion of NetCharts Server covers areas including, but not limited to:
- Understanding and using product documentation
- A review of coding examples
- The Administrative Console
- License Updating
- Importing dashboard archives and supporting resources
- System reports
- Server configuration
- Task scheduling
- Security controls
- J2EE Integration
- The Development Console
- Viewing project content
- Creating project content
- Debugging
- NetCharts Server API Toolkits
During the discussion the areas of NetCharts Server are explained and the standard process of implementing a dashboard in NetCharts Designer is introduced. In NetCharts Server some of the areas of focus include the Administrative Console and features, the Development Console, NetCharts Server Toolkits and their communication with NetCharts Server and more. In NetCharts Designer the process of creating a dashboard page with a chart, table and interactive form field working off a data source is reviewed.
The remainder of the time is spent in a Dashboard Workshop and depending on the student's skill level and expertise we will assist in addressing specific dashboard needs such as KPI development, dashboard design, implementation, etc.
Day 2:
Day 2 consists of two parts:
- Lecture based training covering advanced topics of NetCharts Server and NetCharts Designer for approximately 3-4 hours.
- Dashboard Workshop to assist with implementation specific dashboard content for 4-5 hours.
The discussion of NetCharts Server and NetCharts Designer covers areas including, but not limited to:
- Process Modules
- External Application Server integration
- Page drilldown configuration
- Additional styling features
During the discussion period the concept of Process Modules are introduced. The topics of how Process Modules are used, deploying and using Process Modules in NetCharts Server and NetCharts Designer and how to create Process Modules are covered. In NetCharts Designer advanced styling techniques and drilldown configuration options are covered.
The remainder of the time is spent in a Dashboard Workshop and depending on the student's skill level and expertise we will assist in addressing specific dashboard needs such as KPI development, dashboard design, implementation, etc.
Day 3:
Day 3 consists of two parts:
- Lecture based training covering data visualization development methodology and best practices for approximately 1-2 hours.
- Dashboard Workshop to assist with implementation specific dashboard content for 6-7 hours.
During the discussion period various data visualization techniques are reviewed. These include:
- Understanding the business needs of the visualizations
- Usage of various visualization options
- Matching the best visualization for various scenarios
- Approaches for styling and interactivity
The remainder of the time is spent in a Dashboard Workshop and depending on the student's skill level and expertise we will assist in addressing specific dashboard needs such as KPI development, dashboard design, implementation, etc.
Days 4, 5 and beyond:
Each day consists of two parts:
- Lecture based training covering advanced topics or specific concepts dealing with dashboard requirements for approximately up to 1 hour.
- Dashboard Workshop to assist with implementation specific dashboard content for the remainder of the day.
Each day often starts with a brief discussion or review about advanced or specific concepts that came out of the previous day with a focus on user-specific needs. The remainder of the time is spent in a Dashboard Workshop to continue addressing specific dashboard needs such as KPI development, dashboard design, implementation, etc.
